Application of Single-Ply Roof

TPO and PVC

The application for a TPO and PVC roof system are very similar. Single-Ply roof systems are either mechanically fastened with screws and plates, or they are adhered to the deck with a bonding adhesive. Both systems can be installed as a full roof replacement, or may be laid over the existing roof if applicable.

Step 1-Demolition

If a full roof replacement is needed, we will have to remove the existing roof down to a clean substrate. A new roof lay over is very simple compared to a roof replacement. We will have to clean the old membrane and remove any loose debris.

Step 2-Board Stock

We securely attach board stock to the substrates with appropriate length screws and plates. We use ISO and fiber board stock before installing single-ply membrane. ISO and Fiber are Insulation boards, ISO boards have a higher          R-value the fiber boards.

Step 3-Single Ply Membrane

We apply TPO and PVC by overlapping the seams in the direction of water run off. Even though Single-ply membranes can be glued to the board stock, we use the mechanically fasten technique with screws and plates for added strength against high winds.

Step 4-Heat Welded Seams

All open seams and penetrations are welded together with a high power industrial heat gun, or with a robotic heat welder creating superior durability and water-tight protection to your roof.

Step 5-Seal

Seal up all open edges near roof penetrations with urethane sealant to complete a waterproof single-ply roof system.
